Job Purpose:

The Area Sales Manager (ASM) is responsible for driving sales and achieving targets in the assigned geographical area. This role involves developing and implementing effective sales strategies, managing a team of sales representatives, and ensuring excellent customer relationships to maximize business growth in the FMCG sector.

Key Responsibilities:

Sales Strategy and Execution:

  • Develop and implement effective sales strategies to achieve sales targets and expand market share within the designated area.
  • Monitor sales performance and adjust strategies as necessary to meet changing market and competitive conditions.
  • Conduct regular market analysis to understand customer needs, competitor activities, and market trends.

Team Management:

  • Lead, coach, and manage a team of sales representatives to ensure they meet individual and team sales goals.
  • Conduct regular training sessions to enhance product knowledge, sales techniques, and customer service skills.
  • Set clear performance expectations, provide ongoing feedback, and conduct performance reviews.

Customer Relationship Management:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers, distributors, and retailers to enhance sales opportunities.
  • Address and resolve customer complaints and issues promptly and effectively.
  • Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction by delivering superior service and support.

Sales Operations:

  • Oversee the distribution and merchandising of products to ensure optimal availability and visibility.
  • Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with supply chain and logistics teams to ensure timely product delivery.
  • Conduct regular field visits to monitor sales activities and gather market intelligence.

Reporting and Analysis:

  • Prepare and submit regular sales reports and forecasts to the Regional Sales Manager.
  • Analyze sales data to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement.
  • Develop and present sales performance reports, including achievements, challenges, and action plans.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Marketing, or a related field. A master’s degree is a plus.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in sales, preferably within the FMCG sector.
  • Proven track record of achieving sales targets and driving business growth.
