Position: Senior Engineer - Sourcing

Location: Peenya, Bangalore

Job Description: We are seeking a Senior Engineer for our Sourcing department who will be pivotal in machining, sourcing, and developing new products. This role requires a strategic thinker with a strong background in mechanical engineering and an excellent track record in supplier management and cost analysis.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Lead machining operations and possess expertise in various machining processes including CNC, drilling, VMC, HMC, and grinding.
  2. Manage sourcing activities for engineering items, including competitive sourcing events like RFQs, RFIs, and RFPs.
  3. Develop new products and oversee their sourcing from initial stages through to execution.
  4. Conduct cost analysis and manage costing for profiles, rounds, and forging, ensuring cost-effectiveness and efficiency.
  5. Implement risk mitigation strategies for suppliers to ensure reliability and quality of supply.
  6. Utilize the Basic 7 QC tools to maintain quality standards and support continuous improvement.
  7. Solve problems efficiently and effectively using proven methodologies.
  8. Negotiate with suppliers on price, delivery schedules, and other critical terms to secure advantageous terms.
  9. Analyze raw material price increases and adjust sourcing strategies accordingly.
  10. Monitor and evaluate supplier performance to ensure compliance with company standards and to foster ongoing improvement.
  11. Manage the lifecycle of part development and order fulfillment, including delivery timelines.
  12. Drive initiatives in outsourcing manufacturing through comprehensive make vs. buy analysis, bidding, proposal evaluations, and contract management.
  13. Pursue cost reduction strategies in ongoing projects to enhance profitability.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in engineering with at least 4 years in machining and 3 years in sourcing and new product development.
  • Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent qualification; Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in all areas of machining and competence in handling various machinery.
  • Essential knowledge in cost analysis and basic costing for different manufacturing processes.
  • Proven ability in risk assessment, problem-solving, and implementing quality control tools.
  • Strong negotiation skills and the ability to manage complex supplier relationships.
