About Role:

The Fabrication Shop In-charge is responsible for managing and overseeing the daily operations of fabrication activities including MS/SS tanks, pressure vessels, skids, and piping. The role ensures projects are executed on time, within budget, and in compliance with quality and safety standards. This position requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and the ability to optimize workflows while managing personnel and resources effectively.

Qualifications:

Desired Experience: Yrs of Exp / Nature of Exp

• Diploma or bachelor’s degree in mechanical/industrial engineering, or equivalent experience in similar role.

•  Minimum 10 years in fabrication of tanks, pressure vessels, structural and piping fabrication (MS, CS, SS materials), with at least 4–5 years in a supervisory role

Key Skills Required: Areas of expertise / skills

• Expertise in MS/SS fabrication processes and welding techniques (SMAW, GMAW, GTAW, FCAW, SAW).
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, BOQs, and technical specifications.
• Strong production planning, resource allocation, and inventory management skills.
• Knowledge of industry codes, standards, and safety regulations.
• Leadership and team management capabilities with focus on workforce development.
• Proficiency in CAD, MS Office, and ERP/SAP systems.
• Analytical mindset with experience in lean manufacturing and process optimization.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
• Certifications: Familiarity with IS, ASME, API, AWS codes and standards; knowledge of NDT techniques preferred.

Key Accountabilities: List the key areas of responsibility

• Production Management: Plan, schedule, and supervise fabrication activities such as cutting, bending, fitting, welding, and assembly. Coordinate raw material procurement and contractor workforce planning.
• Quality Control: Ensure all fabricated products meet engineering specifications, client requirements, and quality standards.
• Safety Enforcement: Maintain a safe working environment by enforcing HSE regulations, PPE usage, and safety protocols.
• Personnel Supervision: Lead, mentor, and train fabrication team members including welders, fitters, and grinders.
• Resource & Inventory Management: Monitor raw material and consumable inventory and oversee machine maintenance.
• Technical Interpretation: Read and interpret QAPs, BOQs, engineering drawings, and shop drawings.
• Process Improvement: Implement lean manufacturing practices to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
